University of Melbourne Annual Social Justice Lecture - Wednesday 24 June 2009

Introduction by Dr Jeremy Moss, Director, University of Melbourne Social Justice Initiative

More information

Pat Anderson, co-author of the Little Children are Sacred
report into the neglect and abuse of Aboriginal children in the
Northern Territory will give the annual social justice lecture
reflecting on the NT Intervention.

Ms Anderson is an Alyawarre woman who with Rex Wild QC was appointed by the Chief Minister of the Northern Territory to run an Inquiry into the 'Protection of Aboriginal Children from Sexual Abuse'.

Both authors have in the past publicly expressed concern at the way the
report was used to justify a large scale mobilisation in the Territory
– now know simply as The Intervention - while several key
recommendations, in particular the need for community consultation,
were overlooked.
