Without a parliamentary majority following the 2010 federal election,
the policies pursued by Labor Prime Minister Julia Gillard reflect an
eclectic ideological mix. The Prime Minister must balance her policy
priorities with the interests of crossbench parliamentarians upon which
she depends, and an eye to Labor’s performance in marginal seats. Is the
PM more focused on her own political vulnerability than the concerns of
society’s vulnerable?
