Inaugural Frank Costigan Oration 2009
The Hon. John Cain presents:
“Corruption: Where to Now?”
Date: 18 November 2009
Location: Melbourne Law School
Time: 6.30pm
In paying tribute to Frank Costigan QC, for his contribution to Australian public life as a champion of the fight against corruption, Victorian Premier Brumby described him as having a “fearless commitment” to exposing corruption and crime.
This fearless commitment was an indelible hallmark. From investigating tax evasion as part of his Royal Commission to working as Chair of Transparency International Australia to end the devastating impact of corruption on people around the world – Frank Costigan held a steadfast belief that society should be fair and just for all.
Now as we face new challenges in turbulent and financially uncertain times – we must consider how we take up his baton in the fight against corruption.
What are the dangers of ever closer public and private sectors, the absence of transparency and an ever increasing vulnerability to corruption and fraud? How can we work to foster a broader ethical practice?
Join us as the Hon John Cain presents an insightful and valuable oration in honour of Frank Costigan QC.
